Medicare Part D
What is Part D?
Medicare Part D is Prescription Drug Coverage:
Standalone Coverage
Medicare Advantage or Other Credible Coverage
Part D is designed to help cover the costs of your medications. Generally, you can receive the coverage you need through one of the the two options mentioned above. When joining Medicare, many people who are not currently taking medications do not see the need to enroll into a prescription drug plan. Even though enrolling in prescription coverage is optional, if you do not enroll when first eligible and do not have other credible coverage (through an employer or spouse) or Extra Help, you can face a late enrollment penalty. The late enrollment penalty incurred will not only accrue each month uncovered, but also the penalty will be remain as long as you have Medicare.
